Covid-19 will put 'millions of children' at risk of labor

child labor

The International Labor Organization (ILO) and UNICEF have warned that the success and achievement of rescuing child labor to 94 million over two decades is at risk due to the Covid-19 epidemic.

The review was published in a report titled "Covid-19 and child Labor: Crisis, Time to take Action" published by two international organizations on Friday.

It says children in child labor may have to work longer hours or fall into worse conditions.More and more of them will be forced to engage in menial labor. Which will cause serious harm to their health and safety

Guy Ryder, director general of the ILO, said: "Many people will be forced to work in child labor without any help as the epidemic has brought down family incomes around the world.

"Social security is very important in times of crisis. Because it helps the most risky people. The adoption of international policies on education, social security, justice, the labor market and international humanitarian and labor rights can make a significant contribution to addressing the overall concerns about child labor."

According to the report, Covid-19 will increase poverty and increase child labor. Because families will try their best to survive. According to some studies, an increase of one percentage point in poverty will increase child labor by at least 0.6 percent in certain countries.

"Child labor is a means of survival for many families in time of crisis, "said Henrietta Four, Executive Director of UNICEF."
